Carve a Japanese Spatula
We will take a log of Cherry or Chestnut, split it into flat spatula shapes and using hand tools, including carving axes, drawknives, and spokeshaves, create beautiful and functional Japanese Spatulas.

Japanese Wooden Spatula's have many iterations, Hinoki spatulas were traditionally made from thinly split Cypress for Urushi lacquerwork, more robust ones for cooking, from chestnut, cherry or bamboo, their simple yet ergonomic design make for beautiful practical kitchen utensils

This is a perfect introduction to green wood working workshop with no previous experience required, and yet it is also suitable for more advanced woodworkers wishing to enjoy refining simple shapes into ergonomic and beautiful designs. We will also touch on aesthetics such as finishes and signatures

This is a half day workshop, in the afternoon we will be carving Swedish Butter Knives.

You can book onto the whole day course for £90 here.
