Newark Park National Trust Benches

In April 2022 we were approached by the Head Gardener of the wonderful National Trust Property, Newark Park in Gloucestershire to design, make and install a number of benches for their grounds to make the site more accessible. Newark Park was originally a Tudor deer park and hunting lodge, and has a rich architectural history. It was saved from decline in the 70’s by a Texan architect who fell in love with the place on a trip to England. The benches are dotted along the the path which zigzags down the vertiginous Cotswold escarpment, giving wonderful views over the Ozleworth Valley and the Mendip Hills. We installed 5 benches in total - two with backs and three without - which give places of rest along the steep path.

These benches, made of sweet chestnut grown in Devon, will last for decades, slowly acquiring their own patina, silvering and merging gracefully into the landscape. To commission a bench for your own garden or bench click on the button below.
