Tusk Shelves

We recently completed this fabulous shelving commission for a wonderful property in South Devon. The “Tusks” were split and shaved from locally grown south devon ash, then steam bent and allowed to dry thoroughly for 3 months. Each hole in the shelves had to be meticulously marked out and cut by hand to be a neat fit around the diameter of the Tusk at any given point. This has been one of the most enjoyable and challenging jobs I’ve undertaken for a long time. I’m very pleased with how it has turned out, and i’m looking forward to putting what i have learned into practice on other designs. I will post more about the process of making these shelves when time allows.
